Middle School Advisory Program
The Park School of Buffalo’s Middle School Advisory Program provides academic and personal guidance and support through individual meetings and small groups that address the distinctive social and academic talents and needs of each student. The program nurtures self-advocacy, character development, service learning, social and communicative skills, and academic success. Each advisor works with students to develop respect for the diversity of the social community and the natural environment. Advisors meet regularly with their advisees to keep abreast of any academic and social concerns that may arise, monitor student progress, and communicate any concerns with parents or guardians. The advisor is the student’s advocate within the school community. The advisor is a listener, a goal-setter, and a problem-solver. The advisor serves as the home/school liaison for multiple-course homework, minor behavioral or social matters, time missed due to illness, and minor disciplinary infractions. The advisor also acts in coordination with the Head of Middle School on academic, social or disciplinary issues that are significant or ongoing.
